Iomma and Tenyo blind bag customs by Iomma Iomma and Tenyo blind bag customs by Iomma
A while back I started working on some custom blind bag ponies for myself and a very close friend of mine, :icontenyosciurus:

Even went as far to make tiny little lenses for the glasses, I'm quite proud of my work. The wire frames were a bit of a pain, but hey, new at the micro-crafting. Lemme know how I did!

MLP:FiM and assorted toy products belong to Hasbro.

Thanks! Course, the fine details like the eyes and cutie mark were a bit smaller than the tip of my pen would allow, so it's not 100% perfect, but great for a first try lol

Of course. Practice makes perfect and not having the right tools doesn't mean your effort is any less impressive.

Well, only thing I was lacking was paint thinner and very fine markers, had everything else on hand from my usual side hobby of model car making.

I actually made them a full command console out of lego, and issued them troops.

Thanks! The glasses were pretty easy, just some bent wire for the frames, little chips from a broken cd case with the edges sanded into shape, then fashioned to the ponies with standard model glue.

The hair on the Iomma poni (left), was made from a kneaded eraser, then hardened with model glue. Tail was spliced on from another blind bag (who now has the original tail from the base for Iomma). I have other pics of the shaved pony base, poor thing.

Acrylic paints, fine tiped markers, some spray clear enamel, bits o scrap for props, and viola.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! I was wondering if you could use fine tipped markers and now I know! Thanks again! :)

Use very fine tipped markers, mine were 1mm and I had to get clever to hit details right. For the white areas for the eyes, I xacto knifed a stencil from masking tape and just painted them in. Don't use inks that run easily, or soak too much ink onto the pony, otherwise it'll get messy when the clear enamel is applied. Good to grab a can of white primer spray paint and some crystal clear enamel, trite costly, but very, very worth it.

For custom hair styling, kneaded erasers work great. Thin coat of model glue stiffins it and it hardens to the same consistency as the blind bags themselves. Clay gets brittle, and I've never worked with mod podge or similar, so I wouldn't know how that turns out.

Hm, I'll make sure to get some mm markers at the store. I've used mod podge before and it can get a little lumpy, but gives off a very beautiful result.
